The Effect of The British Industrial Revolution to China

In the 1860s, as head's main capitalist country Britain has carried on the Industrial Revolution successively . In order to satisfy the need of industrial production, they seized the commodity markets around the world, usurping the material habitat. And they dumped industrial products, even integrated most of areas into the capitalism system. China is bounteous and fruitful in resources, but the Qing government political was corrupt, the economy was backward, the armament became lax. At this time, the invasion of the main capitalist country pointed to China, which had brought the enormous influence to China.

Two Opium War caused China to degenerate into the semicolonial and semifeudal society gradually by the feudal society, and the degree further deepened. Two Opium War had brought the grave disaster to China, creating the Chinese long-term impoverished backwardness. However, the Chinese people resist heroically at that time. The patriotic soldiers and Chinese people resisted unceasingly during the two Opium War. What’s more, the peasantry had raised the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom movement.

On the other hand, it made contribution to the new thought of development. The landlords liberal intellectuals began to pay attention to the world, learning to seek the road to strengthen the country and brought a wave of new ideas to learn from the West. Besides, the British Industrial Revolution was the start of modernization of China. Landlords Westernization initiated the Westernization Movement, which had stimulated the emergence and development of capitalism in China. The Westernization Movement was the start of modernization of China.

In a word, the British Industrial Revolution brought both disadvantage and advantage.
